Today I visited the studio of Penny Hardy, a designer who makes a sculptural composition for our garden at Chelsea Flower Show 2021.
Penny Hardy originally trained as a Scientific Illustrator enabling her to explore the intricacies and delicate detail of natural forms and structure and the fundamental discipline of observational draughtsmanship.
Penny suggests that there is a richness in discarded man-made metal items, skilfully made and creating their own metal energy.
The composition at 60°EAST includes a couple and a child, representing here the passing generations and ultimately Visit pennyhardysculpture.com our impermanence on this precious earth. She has used pieces from industrial regions of the Ural Mountains within all three of the sculptures within the garden.
